Governors of South-south states on Thursday declared support for the forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Forum Chairman and Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa said in a statement that the governors also gave full backing to the ongoing investigation of the commission by the National Assembly.
The states’ chief executives under the auspices of the South-South Governors’ Forum, however, decried the festering crisis rocking the interventionist agency.
They hoped the audit would put the NDDC on a sound corporate governance footing and reposition it to better deliver on its mandate.
They also decried the “attempted abduction” of a former acting Managing Director of the commission’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), Dr. Joy Nuneih in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
