Masari – I Don’t Know Who Will Succeed Me As Katsina Governor

The Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari has declared that he neither has interest or any idea on who will succeed him after he might have left office in 2023

Masari who made the disclosure during an exclusive interview with The Nation at his Government house residence in Katsina however maintained his desire that the state should have a better Governor than him come 2023

He said: ’’First of all, I have no idea who will succeed me and secondly my wish for Katsina state is to have a better governor than myself and the one that will come after him to be better than him’’

‘’ I was part of the National Assembly and have no intention of going back to National Assembly or the Senate. Like I said earlier, I will be 73 God willing and in the business of politics, I am out.”

‘’Even in Civil Service, you retire, so I have no intention to contest for any office, what I will do and everyone is aware of how I started and the positions I have held and have no godfather and no intention of contesting anyway’’.

On resumption of schools in the state, he assured that the state government will soon engage relevant stake holders to domesticate relevant guidelines as issued by the NCDC and the federal government before schools can reopen in strict compliance with these guidelines.

He said ‘’If the federal government say schools should open, am sure that it is coming from NCDC, we will also invite the stakeholders to see how we can domesticate these processes with those that are relevant to our state and those that are not’’

On the epileptic power supply in the state, despite the fact that the state government is paying about 40-45million to the Disco- KEDECO, the Governor expressed satisfaction with the level of improvement from the information gathered so far

He said ’’I think from the information I have, there are some improvement in the power supply but power is not available for 24hours’’

‘’Certainly there is improvement in terms of regulation and also in terms of number of hours and we are working on our own to install a generator and also bring transformers that will supplement power coming from KEDCO, we are completely changing all the panels and a lot of money is going into it.”
